In my career I have worked extensively in development roles in differents companies, focusing particularly on organizational changes and real estate. Zoning, construction, permit processes and public procurement have all become familiar to me. Business world teaches efficiency, teamwork, and understanding of the needs and challenges of companies and employees – as well as rational, data-based decisionmaking. I believe experience from various organizations and processes is valuable also when developing Espoo further.
I spent my childhood in the forested lake regions of Northern Espoo and attended a bilingual kindergarten in Kirkkonummi. Later, I fell in love with the green residential areas of Tapiola and Mankkaa. Finally, the sea and the stunning coastline drew me to Haukilahti, where we have lived for many years now. However, many other areas in Espoo, Kirkkonummi, Vihti, Lohja and Raasepori are also familiar to me by family, work or hobbies.
When I believe in something, I work hard for it. Acting based on my values is extremely important to me. As a representative, I have voted against unnecessary investments to prevent debt accumulation and in favor of preserving nature and education. I also put values into practice in daily life: I use public transport and drive an electric car, and commute by e-bike to help combat climate change. Our home is heated with geothermal energy and we sort our waste. I prefer a diet based on vegetables, fish, and poultry. Everyone has the freedom to make their own choices, and I do not judge others for choosing differently, but for me, these actions bring personal satisfaction. Finland can also benefit from green investments in many ways. For example, major chemical industry projects are underway in Ostrobothnia due to the well available green electricity. Growth does not have to conflict with sustainability.
Despite a succesfull career, my life has not been without challenges, including a serious illness and passing of a family member, raising children, divorce, single life, and forming a new family. I understand firsthand what it takes to balance work and personal responsibilities, and how we all must navigate different challenges of life.
